This picture of Occie Phillips road crossing Brushy Creek recalls a similar flood in 1961 when those of us who lived in the area could only get out by boat or a pig trail road around Jim Hubbird Hill on North Pineville road. A friend of mine and I, both about sixteen years old, paddled across the stream, as shown in this picture, and caught a ride to Atmore so we could be at the “Record Hop” by the Dixon on Disc folks from Mobile. Good memories despite the flooding then and now.
