Atmore Baby Killer Gets His Wish: The Death Penalty

December 21, 2009

An admitted baby killer from Atmore will get his wish — a death sentence at Atmore’s Holman Prison.

Christopher Thomas Johnson, now 37, of Atmore testified that he purposefully beat his six-month old son Elias Ocean Johnson to death on February 20, 2005. He said he killed his son because he hated his wife.

“You go see Jesus,” were the last words Johnson said to his son, he testified at his trial.

Johnson fired his public defenders and served as his own attorney during his 2006 Escambia County trial, telling the judge and jury that he wanted the death penalty for his actions. It took the jury less than a half hour to return a guilty verdict, and the death penalty was imposed.

Under Alabama law, the Court of Criminal Appeals was required by Alabama law to review the case. Last Friday, the court upheld the capital murder conviction and death sentence.

“This court is convinced that Johnson’s decision to represent himself on appeal and his decision not to file an appellate brief on his own behalf was knowing and voluntary,” the court said in the decision.

Jesus said we are to love the sinner, not the sin.

As hard as it can be, we must learn to separate the sinner’s soul from the sinner’s action. Ask ourselves, “How do we want to be judged by Christ?” and then apply that mercy to others because we all need that mercy, no matter how big or small the sin.

Great headline- succinct, not too flashy.

I imagine more than a few people actually cheered out loud when they read this.

    Observer,

Yes it is written somewhere, as you said:

“Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:
But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.” Matthew. 38-39

“Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?Matthew 5:43-47

Have you ever carefully studied Isaiah 53?

If He forgave all that and then some, then………? He also, had others spittle on His Face, and in what beard they didn’t rip out. His flesh was torn to shreads, and He did not have on that loin cloth (seen in the artwork). He was crucified in the nude, and didn’t even look human. If you don’t believe me, read it. I am not The Author of that.

I was shocked when I first read that, in Isaiah. And, if I had been a Jew that knew the Old Testament, I would have known my Messiah had come in the flesh, after I read that.

Well all that I’ve got to say is that it’s about time that the courts backed up the sentence . Now let’s just see how long and how much it’ll cost to carry all of this out .
And to the other people no 2 wrongs do not make 1 right but there is also a saying somewhere that states something about an eye for an eye . And the way that I was raised your parents were supposed to be the two people that children could but their trust in and not be afraid of them beating them to death . Yes maybe getting disciplined when needed , but there is a huge difference .

    Yes, whitepunknotondope.

That is……..IF ……… you believe The Word. By that, I mean “The whole Counsel of God,” and not just those things picked and chosen out of It, and the parts you believe obeyed. That is not my opinon, or my feelings. It is The Word of God. Does that mean I have no compassion for that baby, and that I believe what this man did was ok. NO!!! It makes me want to throw up. But, God has a reason for His every Word, and He is The Authority, not me…….not you.
And He is perfect in Love, Righteousness, Love, Mercy, Judgement, and every other thing.

“if you are a Christian, you should still pray for this man’s soul.”

I am praying for his soul. I’m praying that he spends eternity in hell getting beaten to death by a huge demon. Is that so wrong?

Put him a rope in his cell.Maybe he will save the tax payers of this state some money.I am sure we can get a rope donated.

Let him out in town and he wouldn’t have to wait 10 years…….Atmore would drive him stir crazy and maybe he would go jump off a bridge if we were lucky :O)!

I’d be more than happy to oblige and grant his wish!
