All Schools In Session Thursday; Make Up Days Scheduled For Some
December 16, 2009
It’s back to class for students in Escambia County, Alabama, on Thursday — just in time for exams.
Public school students in Escambia, Alabama, were out of school Tuesday and Wednesday on an unexpected break following flooding in the county. But they will be making the missed days up on January 4 and March 19.
Students at Escambia Academy and the Brewton City Schools missed just Tuesday due to the flooding, and students at Perdido School missed part of Tuesday due to rising water.
Students in Escambia County, Florida, did not miss any time due to the floods.

I believe it’s unsafe for us students to have to go to school and take the long way around. I watched on the news and there is a flood warning for the river in century which is a way the students have to travel around to get to school. Plain and simple it’s unsafe to put kids and adults on roads that may flood we saw how fast brewton flooded earlier this week how do we know when this rain comes again it won’t flood again?and also does anyone know if a student misses school will they get to makeup their exams?
School board really blew this one. Parents trying to get their children to school through washed out roads closed roads and bridges. We were told by school board people they had everything under control And it was just a little mess that would only take a couple of hours to fix. We all saw the washed out roads and the fire dwpartmemt was out by 7 the night before. I guess since Perdido is not sitting on the beach we and our children safety don’t matter. What about it superintendent, assistent superintendent and pubLic relations man? When it takes a parent 2 hours to get from bay minette to Perdido due to closed roads somebody dropped the ball big time
I was told they will be buses through Jay. This came from a bus driver.
If Murder Creek is still up-how will they buse the kids to W.S. Neal?
