Police Investigate Burger King Armed Robbery, Suspect On The Run

November 16, 2009

The Atmore Burger King was robbed at gunpoint about 5:00 this morning.

A black male wearing a mask and dark clothing entered the store armed with a handgun, according to Investigator Robbie Williams of the Atmore Police Department.

bkrobb.jpg“The subject, armed with a handgun, demanded money from store employees and left with an undisclosed amount of cash and fled on foot,” Williams said. “Store employees tripped a panic alarm, which, according to police dispatch logs, was received at 5:01 a.m.”

Officers were on scene on minute later, and they were told the robber ran in a westerly direction, Williams said.

Tracking dogs from the Fountain Correctional Center were used to search for the suspect. The K-9 unit initially located a trail, but they lost the suspect’s scent near Trinity Episcopal Church on South Carney Street.

There were no injuries in the early morning robbery at the Main Street fast food restaurant.

Anyone with information on the robbery asked to contact the Atmore Police Department at (251) 368-9141.

I guess according to “an observer” that would mean that all the fast food restaurants should close up around 5PM (dark outside) and only have drive-thru available in the evenings.
