Free Mammograms Available In Jay, Atmore

October 4, 2009

Uninsured and under-insured women in Northwest Florida can receive a free mammogram during October at Jay Hospital, Atmore Community Hospital or one of four other facilities in the Pensacola area.

Through this Breast Cancer Awareness program exams are provided at no charge to women who meet eligibility requirements established by federal charity care guidelines.

Mammograms can be scheduled at any of Baptist Health Care’s six locations including Baptist Hospital, Gulf Breeze Hospital, Baptist Medical Park – Nine Mile, Baptist Medical Park – Navarre, Jay Hospital and Atmore Community Hospital.

“As the area’s leading provider of imaging services, Baptist Health Care is proud to participate in this lifesaving program to improve the health of our community,” said Sherry Hartnett, chief marketing and development officer, Baptist Health Care. “Mammography is a powerful tool in finding breast cancer before symptoms occur. Each year, we celebrate Breast Health Awareness Month as a great reminder for busy women to schedule their annual screenings.”

To schedule your annual mammogram or to learn more about eligibility requirements to receive a free mammogram, call 434-4080.

Spareribs, call Baptist Hospital direct at 850-434-4080. You just happened upon someone at Jay Hospital that wasn’t aware of the program. But the lady in Pensacola can determine if you’re eligible for this and then will make the appointment for you at whichever hospital you want to go to.

Curius, I don’t think they care about anyone’s age as much as they do the size of the household and the total income for the family. The number William listed above is the one you call to get approved, and if approved, they can make you an appointment for all the hospitals, including Jay and Atmore. (or you can call Jay Hospital yourself at 850-675-8030). When you go to the appointment, you must have (3) proofs of income for each family member that’s earning any income, including social security, etc., a picture ID for you, and the name of the doctor you want the report sent to.
