The crowd roared as sophomore Raylin Spence and her horse Sammy thundered into the Northview High School football stadium Thursday night during the annual Meet the Chiefs night.

A giant Northview flag was blowing in the wind as they raced around the football field as Chiefs fans marked the return of a mascot to high school football at Northview.

“I’ve very excited,” Raylin said. “This will get some more school spirit going on at Northview for sure.”

Friday night’s Northview season opener will be the first time the NHS Chiefs have had a mascot at a football game in several years.

Spirit is back at Northview High School! New coach, new band director, new mascot! The band, the cheerleaders and the football team were all at Meet the Chiefs. The crowd was excited. The mascot ran into the stadium — you could feel the moment school spirit returned to Northview!

    GO CHIEFS!!!!!

My cousin was the first ever mounted mascot at Northview in 1996. It’s great to see this aspect of the Chief Spirit come back to the school. i was the in second graduateing class from the school and my brother was in the first. Great job Raylin we need more kids these days to show some initiative. I hope to make it to the first game tonight to watch the show!!!!!!!!

This was done the first 2 years when our son attended Northview years ago, then it stopped. Most likely the rider/student graduated. I thought it was the most thrilling thing I had ever seen at a football game. I am so excited to see the mascot apsect of the game return and am looking forward to tonight’s spirit and game! At least it came back our daughter’s Senior year and we will have those memories to add to the list.

Thank you Raylin for taking the effort to bring this back to Northview, it means alot.
