Ready, Set, Play: Playground Installed At New Bratt Park
September 24, 2009
The playground is now complete at the under construction Bratt Community Park on West Highway 4.
The playground features a large play area, a toddler swing and regular children’s swings. It also has adult size benches on the perimeter.
Editor’s note: While the playground is complete, the surrounding park is not. Walkways and parking areas are still under construction, and, with recent rains, are very muddy.
County employees are currently working to install the 8-foot wide, eight-tenths of a mile walking track around the perimeter of the 13-acre park.
The park will also include two softball fields, a full basketball court and exercise and rest stations positioned along the track. The softball fields will not be lit for night play; in fact, the park’s hours will follow that of other county parks — sunrise to sunset.
The park is being funded with $200,000 in LOST (local option sales tax) monies set aside for the park’s construction.

You might want to spell check and make your comment sound at least somewhat literate before you hit submit. Doesn’t do much for your argument when you can’t put a complete sentence together. And, how about Feed Up. Are you seriously Fed Up? Please people!
COOL! I like it!
I agree J. There was some much more that these taxes could have been spent on. Most family in District 5 live in RUAL so that meann they own anywhere from 2 to 20 achers of Land. It is not we live in downtown Pensacola. I know some of you think well aleast we got this. But this is a dis-service from our County Commisssioner when we already have a several parks up here. Bradberry & Oak Grove Park Not inculding the achers of Land of are own Properites. I sorry But I feel that there needs to be a better level of expectation and Common Sence used when using the few pennies we hardly do get from Escambia County County Commissioners. We NEED Jobs in District 5 by the way of possabily small bussiness or even some big bussiness. A WALMART or even a Manufactoring company would be great plus bring in more Revenue for the county and District 5…………..Pensacola has gotten so big the only way that Escambia county is going to continue to grow is the NorthEnd to grow. District 5 wants a small pice of the pie. Not just CRUM”S
another waste of county taxes got a good park in Walnut Hill
waste of money got a park in Walnut Hill REMEMBER!!!!!!!!!! Brady Berry Park or have yall forgotten
Yay!! Can’t wait till the walking track is done!!! It’s looking GREAT!
this will be great the only other park is at byrnville community ctr my kids will enjoy this like everyone else
Perhaps a few standard yard or security type lights like you might have at home, but the park will not be lighted. It will close at dark. The last plans I saw did not have bathrooms or running water due to expense. It will not be fenced other than the wood aesthetic fence you see now along Hwy. 4.
will it be lighted, have bathrooms, and will it be gated? If not i would be afraid of something being destroyed at night. Could some one answer these questions? It will be so nice to have a park that the children can play if parents want to walk.
goodjob
That will be so awesome. Thanks.
The plans do show a covered pavilion
William,
Do you have any idea, along with the other stuff they are building, if they may build a covered pavilion to be able to have birthday parties and stuff? Kind of like the one at Solutia?
But be warned — Unless you are in a truck, you’ll probably need to park on Bratt Rd and walk. As of yesterday, it looked too wet and muddy to drive a car into the park. Don’t wear your good shoes.
Thanks, my grandbabies have been waiting for a go ahead.
noh8rs — I did.
Are we allowed to play yet?
Cool!! Can’t wait until it is finished.
