Open House Tonight At Ernest Ward; Parents Can Ride Free Bus From Century

September 24, 2009

Open house at Ernest Ward School will be held from 6 until 7 tonight, and there will be a free bus for parents from Century.

Parents will begin the evening in their student’s homeroom where they will receive a copy of their student’s schedule. If parents attend without the student, they should ask the student the name of the homeroom teacher. The homeroom with largest percent of parents who sign the homeroom sheet will win an ice cream party.

Parents will then follow their child’s schedule to each class where they will have the opportunity to ask general questions about school activities and curriculum. This is not a time for a conference with any faculty member about an individual student. The staff and facility look forward to meeting all parents, school officials said.

A free bus provided by the school district will depart the former Carver/Century K-8 School at 5:30 for parents that wish to attend the Ernest Ward open house. The bus will leave Ernest Ward for Century at 7 p.m.

Now that tax payer money has been wasted on this “free” bus ride, I would like to know how many parents rode that bus to the open house.

When can all the other parents expect free rides to their child’s open house, PTA meeting, etc, etc. ???

Why has there NOT EVER been transporation from Walnut Hill, Davisville,McDavid, Enon, Dogwood Park to open house at Bratt, Ernest Ward, and Northview. I believe that MR. THOMAS wanted the people to come together as a commuinty. How does he think the people feel now in the Walnut Hill, Bratt, Davisville area now? Not so great? There are poor people in these area also. WHY IS A SCHOOL BUS GOING TO CENTURY IN THE SUMMER AND PICKING UP FOOTBALL PLAYERS? I had to pay someone to come pick my son up because he was under the age to drive. I have to work for a living. It the tax payers paying for this or the sports boosters? This is NOT FAIR to the parents that have to pay someone to pick up thier children. If this happens again next summer I hope thar the children at Walnut Hill will have a bus. Please address this MR. MALCOM THOMAS

Yes, Molino Resident, it is discrimination! And it will only continue to get worse!

Interesting…my daughter attends Byrneville Elm. and we had to miss her open house last week due to our car being in for repairs. Nobody provided transportation for us. Just a thought.

A perfect example of our TAX $$$$ at work again! But when you need the school board/district to assist in investigating staff for mistreating students or money spent that cannot be explained, when you go to them with legitimate complaints they are no where to be found or heard. Their head is in the sand… GOOD JOB MR. THOMAS, what about the rest of the parents and students, don’t we have rights too.

Will they be there to pick up the slack for the parents when they need transporation to and from pensacola to shop or go to the casino’s or just cruise the streets? Thank you school district once again you showed your true colors.

I think we all know why they are getting a free ride from Century.

Isn’t this discrimination? There’s no bus to give me a ride from Molino. No bus from Enon, or Davisville, or McDavid? Why are people in Century treated differently? I know people in Molino that will not be at tonight’s open house because they can’t afford transportation.
