Maybe I missed something, but even as goofy as the checkpoints are, why brodcast where they are? Giving the drunk drivers a heads up? Is it a law that states they must disclose this info to the public?

This is our Tax $$ at best…..Why in the world are we spending the time of these officers checking DLs? I agree we should look at the speeding issue we have on Hwy 4 and 97. Chasing speeders and drug dealers makes more sense to me. I guess they need money. I too have a legal license, pay taxes and always try to abide by the law and encourage others to do so as well. I agree with John, we are looking at a very dismal America if we or something don’t change. What will our flag mean in the near future? We can only hope and continue to work for our “FREEDOM”

excellent perspective john……i hope that all citizens of our great country are on the alert, especially now, during this new presidential administration…..tune in to the GLEN BECK show on FOX…..i listened to it yesterday and couldnt believe what i was hearing!…but, as far as excessing the speed on hwy 97…im going to do my very best to adhere to the posted speed limits…thats my commitment….(maybe, in part, i have this issue because im from daytona)

John, you are absolutely right. The government is rapidly trying to and successfully taking away our freedom. What is to come will just be worse.

You may go now. Hail to the Leader!
    Slippery slope people…slippery slope.
For a Great Nation as ours, we are allowing our personal freedoms slip away. We have all seen this before in history.
I dont drink, cannot stand the stuff,to be honest. I hate drunk drivers and think we should really stick it to those who drink and drive. I’m properly licensed.
I have 23 years of Law Enforcement behind me.

I was an American posted in East and West Germany in the early eighties. I remember the East German Border Guards and Police quite well.
    Ask yourselves this:
What freedomsand liberties do we have that no other countriy has now? Say western Europe as an example? Do we have freedoms that they do not? Freedom is what sets us Apart from every other Nation on this Planet! …or at least it used to be that way.
Dont take my word for it, I’m just an anonymous post on the internet and to be humble, a nobody. But read what this great man said:

They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. ~Benjamin Franklin, February 17, 1775

    Concerning Speed Enforcement:
Another road that turns into a Daytona 500 is West Hwy 4 since school has started back up. Especially now that we have even more travelers due to more students coming from Century going to and from Bratt and Ernest Ward. When the speeders travel down the hill towards the double bridges at high rates of speed is what really concerns me. And this concern includes the School busses too!

Drivers…..PLEASE slow down and observe the speed limit!

This impresses me almost as much as the fact that the S.O. sub-station will be open in Walnut Hill on Tuesdays! The reason for this is? Speed enforcement, to me, is more important than check points for valid DLs and paperwork. Highway 97 turns into Daytona between 7 and 8 am weekdays. My idea is — get out there and catch the speeding public and THEN check their credentials. Surely, violations will bring in more revenue than “checkpoints”!

i see that all the checkpoints are in the south end again. They need to set some in the norhtend also. Especially on Hwy 97 and then in Century.
