Violent Sex Offender Arrested In North Escambia
August 8, 2009
A wanted Tennessee violent sex offender was arrested Friday in North Escambia.
Charles Alton Clift, 34, was taken into custody on warrants out of Hamilton County, Tennessee. Clift was listed as one of the Hamilton County Sheriff’s 12 most wanted fugitives.
The search for Clift began just before 8:00 Friday morning at a house in the 3900 block of Highway 97 near Hendricks Lane north of Molino. Escambia County deputies were unable to locate Clift at that address, but a tip led them to another address in the area. That exact address was not immediately available.
Clift was taken into custody and booked into the Escambia County Jail as a fugitive from justice. He remains in jail without bond.
Clift plead guilty to aggravated sexual battery in 1996 and was sentenced to state prison, according to Hamilton County, Tennessee, court records. He was arrested in August, 2008, after he failed to properly register as a sex offender. Court records show he plead guilty to violation of Tennessee’s sexual offender registry laws in September 2008.
A warrant for violation of sex offender registry, second offense was issued for his arrest after he once again failed to comply with Tennessee’s sexual offender registry laws by not reporting his whereabouts.
Hamilton County, Tennessee, encompasses that Chattanooga area.

i agree with the comment that was made by ” northendbratt”….i wish all of them was off the streets!
I know a person that has to be on this list because of having sex with his girlfriend. A good kid she was 15 he was around 18. They had dated for a long time.. She had had problems since a young age.Sometimes their is a story behind the reasons or being on this list He has went on to make something of his life. I think her parents pushed this also. This man must have really did something worst that b\being a teenager and having sex with his girlfriend.
Maybe he won’t be in Florida long. Put him on that Chatannooga Choo Choo like Oversight said. We don’t want his type in Florida.
Great job Sheriff Morgan and awesome deputies!
Valerie Parkhurst you are sooooooo right about the state. If this scumbag cost any money, then that will cut out the “necessary trips/vacation and so on……I know because I am an EX state employee and OH how I could talk………
Knowing Florida they will open up their arms, feed house and clothe the SOB, this guy isnt off the streets, the state doesnt want to pay to house or bury them, (any state) they are letting these guys out in record numbers to feed off our kids..and forget probation or parole, they dont want to spend the money for that either, these guys are getting less and less time everyday, because your state employees arent going to compromise on their pay raises…thats about what it boils down too.
I’m glad that he’s not charged with any other violations here because we’d have to use our tax dollars to keep this piece of trash around for a trial. Put him on the Chattanooga Choo Choo and ship him back to Tennessee today!
one off the streets!
