Strong Storms Moved Through Area; Some Problems Reported

Strong storms moved across south Alabama and North Escambia this afternoon, bringing heavy rain and lots of lightning.
A large portion of Atmore was reported to have lost power just before 5:00 this afternoon, and several scattered outages were reported in North Escambia. Authorities say that portions of Main Street and other roads were flooded in Atmore, including the intersection of Main and Ridgely streets where several vehicles were stalled earlier this afternoon by high water. Trees were reported down, including at Jacks Springs and Sunset roads.

My son was driving back from P’Cola yesterday, mid afternoon on Hwy. 29, and he called and said he was in Cantonment and the wind and rain got so bad that everyone had to pull over and wait for it to slack up some.
