Gas Prices Fall 22 Cents In A Month

July 27, 2009

Gas prices are continuing to fall across the area, with the average price in Escambia County down 22 cents over the past month.

The average price per gallon of regular unleaded in Escambia County was $2.40 Sunday, down from $2.62 a month ago. A year ago, that gallon of gas was averaging $3.91, according to the AAA Fuel Gauge Report.

The cheapest gas in the Pensacola area was at the Blue Angel Parkway Tom Thumb Sunday night at $2.32, a full eight cents below the county average.
Industry analysts say that the rate of decline is slowing.

I went through Pensacola yesterday morning, and on my way home last night every store had went up in gas price at least 4-5 cents per gallon.
Everytime the prices go down a little, they start going right back up. It is August, the time for people to take a little trip if they can afford it, so they will raise it back up to get more profit on the travelers.

We have been talking about gas prices on my job for the last couple of weeks. It is very susprising how Bay Minette and Brewton is so much cheaper than Atmore. It is sad to be so Greedy ,knowing how bad things already are. They know gas is a need and you have to purchase it regardless of the price but something needs to be done. I know it may sound crazy but something i rather drive to Bayminette or Brewton fill up and then maybe our stores will stop being so selfish bc that is less money they will make.I can also shop at Wally World, and you are right ,i cannot understand why Walmart prices are so different. I love PC Florida WALMART bc of the Great Prices and lower taxes.I just pray that things will get better for us little people.I know in my heart if had money(rich) i would try to help those that was trying to help themselves.Share a little, the more you share the more you are Blessed With!!!

Yep, Flomaton stations are a fine example of price-fixing. Not only that, be careful of some of their speed traps too. They love to stop cars with Florida and Georgia tags!!

Well, the Brewton stores must have read the comments on here, cause now they are only 14 cent more…..hhhmmmmm

It’s higher in Flomaton because it is padding the pockets of a select few. The T-T used to be cheaper, but they figured out they could rip us off too.

You know they all probably email each other and fix their prices to rip off the small towns.
It’s like the Wally World in Brewton everything is higher than it is in Pensacola, plus you got to pay more tax of everything. There’s not even tax on the food in Pensacola so you save 8 percent on your grocery bill right there.

I agree Ripped! Just late last week, Flomaton and Atmore were still $.20 per gallon higher than Brewton. It’s funny, because some years ago Brewton was always the one to be last lowering their prices, but that has all changed. Unfortunately, there’s one owner for the two BP’s in Flomaton, and the Tom Thumb and the Shell USED to be independent thinkers, but that changed. Now they pretty much charge whatever the BP’s do. You have 4 stations in Flomaton and two of those four are owned by the same person. It’s called GREED!!!!!!!

It’s called a price conspiracy in Flomaton.

Can someone please explain to me how gas is $.28 cheaper in Brewton, than it is in Flomaton??? Seems as thought the gas station owners are not only making more profit from the locals, but since a main artery road (HWY113) comes through, they can cheat the out of towners!! I kinda doubt that Flomaton has 28 cent more gas tax, any ideas??
