Sheriff’s Department To Start Ticketing Kids
June 25, 2009
The Escambia County Sheriff’s Department will announce next week that they will be ticketing kids — for making the right choices and helping others in need.
Deputies will issue “citations of right-doing” when they are caught in the act of doing good deeds. The citations can be redeemed for a free kid’s meal at Chili’s restaurant and for a free Orange Crush at any local Tom Thumb.
The program will officially be announced next Tuesday.

Sounds like a wonderful idea to get kids interested in doing something good. Is it only deputies who can ticket. How about agencies who need volunteers and assistance during the summer?
This is a great program we all should support. I hope it makes its way to the north end of the county.
AL — The ECSO will officially announced the program next Tuesday, as the story says. They have not announced the details.
Sounds good to me. Are there any other details on how it would work?
ie – if the deputy is driving down the street and sees a kid picking up litter? or would it be specific settings/ events?
good stuff
Why stop with kids.I could use a meal ticket
i can see so many positive ramifications for this novel project!..whoever thought of it deserves a pat on the back….as well, a great BIG “thank you” to CHILIES and TOM THUMB for extending themselves in this time of economic distress….kids do need this kind of positive reinforcement once in awile…not so much as a “reward” for good deeds, but moreso of a “recognition” for choosing to put others needs before theirs in this world of “instant gratification” and “its all about me” kind of atmosphere….cudos to all participants!
Wow, I love it. An incentive to do good and help mold our children. Good job.
This is great…….. i have a grandson that can’t wait to be a police officer he is going to police camp in July at jeff Davis Collage for a week ……… this is a good ideal good job guys..
What a good incentive. It’s a good way for children to strike a good bond with the police department and learn respect for the future. I hope it works out well.
this is good of them, and for the kids, help them practice good respect of othees.
