Rep. Greg Evers Honored By Town Of Jay
June 28, 2009
Many in the Town of Jay turned out to honor State Representative Greg Evers Friday night as Jay Mayor Kurvin Qualls presented Evers with a Key to the City.
Evers, 54, graduated in 1973 from Jay High School where he played basketball for the Royals. Several of his former coaches and teachers were on hand Friday night to honor the man they once mentored. There were many others who also came out so show their support for the state representative and expressed their appreciation for his efforts and contributions to the Town of Jay.
“I can’t begin to describe how special it was for me tonight to be honored by a town that I love so much. This award came from the heart and that is what makes it so special,” an emotional Evers told the crowd at the Jay Community Center.
The special event was an opportunity for the community to honor Representative Evers and show their appreciation for his many legislative accomplishments. Evers was also given a proclamation by the Jay Town Council commemorating his efforts in representing the small town and the surrounding farming community.
In the Florida House, Evers serves as vice chair of both the Agriculture and Environment Appropriations Committee and the Transportation Committee. He serves on several other House committees including Insurance and Military and Veterans Affairs.
Evers has been a Republican member of the Florida House of Representatives since 2001, filling the seat vacated by now Congressman Jeff Miller. He is an announced candidate for the State Senator District 2 seat currently held by Durell Peaden. Peaden is serving his final months in the Senate due to term limits.
Born in Milton, Evers currently resides in Baker where he operates Greg Evers Farms in Santa Rosa and Okalossa counties, and his U-pick strawberry far, Akers of Strawberries, in Baker. He also operates the Baker Farm Center.

Mr. Evers if you remember is the one that meet with the Century mayor about the consolidated goverment and changed thier view of what was taking place with the cost of the consolidation survey, and they changed thier vote.
I feel that Mr. Evers will as always vote the best interest of the voters,
and i hope to see him go further in our goverment
SEND HIM INTO EARLY RETIREMENT. VOTE AGAINST GREG EVERS FOR ANYTHING HE RUNS FOR. HE IS FOR THE SPECIAL INTEREST IN PENSACOLA AND DOES NOT AND HAS NOT REPRESENTED THE PEOPLE WHO PUT HIM IN OFFICE. I WAS HOOD WINKED ONCE BUT NEVER AGAIN.
Bob,
Isn’t it possible he did what is right, and is trying to get this controversial issue to be voted on by all the county residents? Would he not be derilict in his duty to squash the issue?
Just wondering.
It,s good to see that Jay,Florida has so much confidence in Mr. Evers. I felt the same once. I will always remember him as the man who introduced the bill in the Florida House for consolidated government inEscambia County. He showed me that he will bow to pressure clearly against the wishes of his constituents. Will I ever vote for him again? Not in this world.
