Over 5,000 Attend First Blueberry Jamboree (With Photo Gallery)

Over 5,000 people attended the first annual Escambia County Blueberry Jamboree Saturday at the Barrineau Park Community Center. The Blueberry Jamboree was a nostalgic throwback to the old fashioned festivals of years past with old fashioned music, food and about 60 vendors on hand with arts and  crafts — and, of course, lots of blueberries.

A great day to be a blueberry! Lots to see, lots to eat, lots of heat, and lots of bluegrass. The 1st band to play was called High Cotton they’re the current Florida State bluegrass champions. If you didnt here them you missed out and if you did here them you know why they’re the state champs. All the music was great kinda made you want to stay around and see what was next. Hope its held next year.

What a great event! A hot day but a day that was enjoyed by many.I played with The Corner Band and you cook an egg on my Black guitar! But instead of eggs I went for the Hot dog and Real Lemonade. Many vendors, and yes reasonable prices.Much to do inside even cool off, while watching Cloggers, looking at Museum artifacts,Blueberry dessert contest(I tried to be an assistant to one of the Judges- but Tracye said no) and other events.I hope we are invited back next year.Remember Blueberries and Music are good for you!

On behalf of the Barrineau Park Historical Society, I would like to say “Thank You” to all the people responsible for making the Blueberry Jamboree a smashing success. It was a pleasure to work with Libbie Johnson, Brandi Daigle and Debbie Williams. They are hard-working, very well organized girls. Our society members say “thanks” to everyone involved. We are grateful to have the opportunity to manage the Community Center and offer it for events such as this. A special “Thanks” to William and Northescambia.com for the great coverage and for being so helpful to us.

Other than it was hot, I had a great time as a vendor. I hope they do this again next year. Maybe the weather will be nicers. :-)

Forgot to say — if you can 5,000 in the first year to a festival, imagine what this will be like in 3 years. You’ll have 25,000. The vendors were great and reasonabley priced. A festival where you can park for $1, get a cold coke for 75 cents and admission is free! If you missed it, you really missed out. Thanks to everyone. And Libbie is correct. Mr. Lawson is amazing!

5,000 people attended an event in north Escambia County and the Pensacola News Journal did not cover it. Thank you for all you do northescambia.com! It was amazing the number of people that I talked to that were from locally and out of town that all said they were there because of northescambia.com. You are truely appreciated.

Our appreciation to all who attended, served as volunteers, participated as vendors, donated time and energy towards entertainment, and provided financial and in-kind support towards the Blueberry Jamboree. Escambia County Recreation and Escambia County IFAS Extension were proud to offer this event to our entire community, but it could not have been successful without all of your support. We’d also like to recognize Escambia County Natural Resources Division, Escambia County Facilities, Escambia County Road Department, and the Barrineau Park Historical Society for all of the “behind the scenes” work. Lawson Berry- our blessings to you for helping with all of the entertainment. FYI– all of our acts performed for free. If you see any of the entertainers out, please stop and shake his/her hand. We estimated by the end of the day we had more than 5,000 people come onto the Barrineau Park grounds. We plan to get with William Reynolds and put out a public letter of appreciation. We do hope to have this event in 2010.

Welcome to MOLINO…… what a GREAT DAY. A HUGE “Thank you” to everyone for a tremendous day – starting with the 5K Run/Walk and then the entertainment all day long, great food, great vendors with a good variety and fun events for all the family to particpate.
It was HOT but The Blueberry Jamboree is on the map as a GREAT EVENT…. can’t wait for next year.
Well done to all the organizers and helpers!

    It was GREAT!!!
Where can you park for $i.00 and it go to a good cause
Food and drinks were priced were you could afford them.
Vendors had wonderful set ups, and were friendly, and most all items were in my pocket range….[ I usually can not afford vendors at festivals.]
Music was great and put you in the mood to hang around.
Well I guess I can not say enough good things about it as it all was GREAT
Hope to be there next year… as I have shared my fun with many friends that did not go and they to will be therel next year

It was great. They did a wonderful job organizing everything. With the success it had I am sure next year will be even bigger! The vendors had some beautiful items and they were not priced sky high like most festivals.
