Telecom Company Moving About 60 Jobs To Atmore; Job Fair Next Week

May 5, 2009

About 60 new jobs will be created in Atmore when the international telecom company Americatel relocates call center and management positions to the town.

americatel.jpgAmericatel, based in Rockville, MD, provides international telecom services to immigrant and hispanics in the United States and Canada.  Americatel will relocate customer operations positions that are presently staffed offshore to the Matrix Telecom facility on Brookwood Road in Atmore. Both companies are owned by Platinum Equity, LLC a private firm that acquires companies in the manufacturing, distribution, and communications sectors.

“On behalf of the City, I want to welcome Americatel to Atmore. They will provide good paying jobs to our citizens. The fact that they chose Atmore because of Matrix Telecom’s efficient customer operations speaks highly of Atmore’s workforce. We are very pleased to have them as part of our business community.” Atmore Mayor Howard Shell said.

“We’ll offer good pay, benefits and flexible work shifts to people who enjoy a structured work environment and who enjoy solving problems” said Stephen Wagner, executive vice president of Customer Operations at Matrix. “While multi-lingual skills are not required, we are particularly interested in hiring customer service professionals who have that knowledge”.

Americatel will hold a two day job fair next Monday and Tuesday from noon to 7 p.m. at the Matrix/Trinsic building at 201 Brookwood Road in Atmore.

I’m glad there is so much interest in these open positions. As the Director of Human Resources for Americatel and Matrix, I can assure you that Spanish is not a requirement for these positions. We are looking for people who are hardworking, enthusiastic and committed to providing great customer service; much like those already working for Matrix in this location. We welcome applicants from all parts of Alabama and Florida, from Mobile to Pensacola, and have current employees in the call center from those communities today. I encourage anyone who has an interest in an excellent opportunity to stop in to the job fair next week, where you can learn more about what we have to offer.

I hope to see you then!

Way to go atmore. Guess all the Spanish classes in high school will pay off. But really there are plenty Spanish people in atmore. Maybe you can move this to rivercane. I know there is plenty of space for rent.

Sounds to me like employees would have to speak Spanish in order to work there. But it doesn’t say, so I suppose anyone who wanted could go to the job fair and find out. And Bama54, these companies don’t worry about employees relating to the customers. The employees generally read from a company script and enter the necessary information. It’s a good thing for Atmore and I hope it all works out.

I was wondering the same thing. Will you have to speak and understand spanish to get a job? I went to the Americatel website, there was no link to apply, and it was in spanish.

“provides international telecom services to immigrant and hispanics in the United States and Canada. ” Just how in the world do the people of Atmore relate to immigrants and hispanics?? Call centers never seem to work well in Atmore for some reason, but I give Atmore credit it keeps trying.

Would people in Cantonment and above Pensacola be available to apply for the jobs of telecommication. I worked with Comcast before and have some experience. Would I be able to apply on line?
    Thank you Jacquelyn Andrews
