Molino Mom Arrested For Child Abuse, Battery On Husband

May 22, 2009

A Molino mother was arrested last night on child abuse and battery after hitting her three-year old in the head with a plate and slapping her husband.

ferrelltinalouise.jpgTina  Louise Ferrell, 46, was booked into the Escambia Jail Thursday night where she was charged with one count of aggravated child abuse and one count of aggravated battery in connection with an incident about 7 p.m. at a mobile home on Duxbury Avenue off Highway 29 in Molino.

Ferrell and her husband were asleep about 7 p.m. when her 10-year old child tried to wake her to get help with a one-year old child in the home, according to Sgt. Kevin Vickrey with the Escambia County Sheriff’s Department. When Ferrell refused to help with the infant and went back to sleep, the 10-year old tried to wake her again with drops of water sprinkled in her face. That’s when Ferrell slapped her husband and threw a plate a him, Vickrey said. The plate missed the husband and struck the three-year old in the head.

The three-year old was transported to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola with injuries that were not believed to be serious, according to deputies. The child is expected to make a full recovery.

Ferrell was being held in the Escambia County Jail with no bond early Friday morning.

I agree with you about DCF being a JOKE!!! So its up to us to protect inocent children. Do what we have to do. There are 1000’s of children being abused daily, sexually abused by their own Fathers, brothers, grandfathers, and so on and its only getting worst every day. Its time we do something to help these children.

The DCF is a JOKE. I am willing to bet that the DCF has been called more than once about this household, and did nothing. But now that she was arrested, they will step in.

I can almost bet you that behind every case that you see in the news, there had already been numerous reports to the DCF and nothing was done.

It isn’t that people don’t want to get involved and report it, it is that when you call the DCF, they DO NOTHING til something like this happens.

This is only a drop in the bucket. For every child abuse story you hear about there are 100’s more that stay quite because PEOPLE JUST DONT WANT TO GET INVOLVED!!!!!! These children are most likely abused and neglected daily, and even sadder is if they are placed in foster care, they will most likely continue to be abused!!! It angers me that people like her are allowed to have a child year after year, baby after baby, the child grows up being abused, they have children, they abuse them, and there you have the chain……… I am willing to bet that they all get a “crazy check” while I bust my behind EVERY day, and cannot afford to have children because I refuse to allow you “Tax payers” to pay for me to have children!!!

There is more to that story, this woman and her husband in bed before the young children…. NOT.
I hope the children are out of that house.

Where are the children now? Sounds like they have a 10 yr old working as the parent to a 3 yr old and a 1 yr old. These children shouldn’t have been left in the home…. hopefully family services are involved.

Ok, I think there might be more to this story than what we’re reading right now. Sounds to me like she was “on” something and I hope they test her (& her husband too) for drugs, etc. and keep a watch on these poor children who just happen to be saddled with this woman. It’s really sad.
