Gindl-Perry Named Escambia County’s Principal Of The Year

May 14, 2009

perryewms10.jpgErnest Ward Middle School principal, Nancy Gindl-Perry, has been named as Escambia County’s Principal of the Year.

Superintendent Malcolm Thomas made the announcement Wednesday, along with announcing that Regina Lipnick, assistant principal at Bailey Middle, is the Assistant Principal of the Year.

“Our school district is blessed with a number of excellent school administrators,” Thomas said. “These are two outstanding individuals who will represent well the administrative talent we have in our schools.”

“I could not have done it without a fine faculty and staff,” Perry said. “Behind every principal are the people that make a school great.”

Known for calling Ernest Ward students as “my babies”, Perry will compete against principals from 66 other districts in Florida for state honors.

The Florida Department of Education annually honors principals and assistant principals from each of the state’s 67 school districts for their exemplary contribution to students, schools, and communities. Award criteria also include innovative leadership, dedication to academic excellence, and increased student performance.

Earlier this year, Perry received what was, without a doubt, the most unique award of her entire educational career. She was presented with the “Golden Cow Dung Award” by members of the Ernest Ward FFA. The award featured a large piece of cow dung, painted a golden color. Perry received the award from the school’s FFA members as a “thank you” for supporting FFA.

Congrats to Mrs. Perry and EWMS, WOW what an Honor. Mrs. Perry you have done such a great job at EWMS. My child, not to mention the parents and community love you for taking care of our “babies.” We are so proud of you and are lucky to have you as our principal.

Elaine, you are still a very bitter person! I seem to remember you being very ugly about the cheerleaders at EWMS also……..I think is is time you grow up!!!!!

Are you still having bitter fellings because of your childhood or are you just trying to be a jerk!!! It is an honor and she is doing a great job with the school and our kids. She is not perfect but I can tell you she does have the best intrest of the kids in mind with every decision she makes.

I do believe that I have finally figured out who you are and you and your family need to get over it!!

I wonder if the teachers are as impressed with this honor as the community. Too bad they can’t respond and share all of the ’secrets’ that are floating around EWMS. The amazing thing is you haven’t changed a bit from when you were the assistant at NVHS.

There are a lot of children that are entering EWMS as new sixth graders (mine inluded). Concerned parent, please let us form our own opinions of EWMS. The sixth graders already have so much anxiety about middle school. I think they are going to find a principal that does the best she can to make the middle school years enjoyable, but expects the students to follow the rules. I have heard lots of great things about the staff and leaders of EWMS…
Congratulations Mrs. Perry on being principal of the year! Keep up the good work.

Concerned Parent if you have something to say, say it. Don’t wait for others to do your work or is it that what you have to say isn’t worth the time to print it.

I would love to know how many comments were not posted – like those that tell the real story of EWMS

Congraulations Mrs. Gindel-Perry! You have come a long way. The last time I saw you, I was in Tate High School and you were a sub. teacher, and your daddy Pete Gindle was the Ag teacher. You have a lot to be proud of.

    Congratulations Mrs.Perry!!!!!!!!!!!!
    You deserve it.

  12. John on May 14th, 2009 3:09 pm

You deserve this Miss Perry. My wife and I have been impressed with your abilities as an Educator since coming here. Our kids say you are “Awesome” too. It was great having that short chat with you after the open house/orientation last week. We tried to give you credit for our childs great test scores and education she was obtaining from Ernest Ward…..but, you being you, refused to accept them …instead crediting your teachers who indeed deserve much praise.
    However:
The ‘Buck’ starts with you Miss Perry, that is why we are so very happy and lucky to have you here looking after or “babies”

“Heroes” must be made. Heroes must be taught and molded. Heroes are ordinary people who have accomplished extraordinary things.
    My family thanks you.
You are a hero to our children.
…no humility on your part is going to change that, LOL!

“Is that gum in your mouth???”

    Mrs. Perry,

When I took my first child to EWMS orientation, I was SO worried about my child! Until I heard you say “These children are my babies! I’m just like mamma during the school day!” I felt reassured at that moment. You fully deserve this award!

Way to go…You have definately earned and deserve this great honor Mrs.Perry.

You are one of the most respected principles that I have come across in all our years of being a part of the school system, with our two children. Everyone enjoys all the qaulities that you bring to the school and it’s students and it shows everyday, in everyway, that you definately love what you do.

Esc.Co.Florida School Board is priveledged to have you on their team and we are priveledged to have you up in the northend!
