Three people were seriously injured in a head-on collision in Cantonment Saturday night.

The accident happened just before 10:00 at the intersection of Highway 29 and Muscogee Road. Witnesses say the driver of a Hyundai Elantra ran a red light, colliding head on with a Dodge Ram truck.

Both male drivers were transported to Pensacola hospitals by ambulance. A young passenger in the Elantra, believed to be 4-5 years old, was transported from the scene by LifeFlight.

The driver of the Elantra, who was trapped in the wreckage for a brief time, and his young passenger were reportedly unrestrained.

The accident is still under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.

I hope the little fellow is gonna be okay. Was a carseat in the car? If it was the little one could have undone it’s self, because some kids are like that. My little one tried all the time knowing that she had to be buckled.

I want to point out to everyone that Tina Pendleton sent me these photos from last night. I don’t get to cover the Cantonment area as much as I’d like. I want to make sure she gets the credit.

I would love to find people to help cover the Cantonment area little more…so if you know someone email me.

Our “official” coverage area is Quintette Road/Molino and north. Because as one person, it’s hard to cover everything I would like in the Cantonment area.

Anyone is welcome to send me Cantonment area stuff anytime. I can’t tell you that you can approach accident/fire/crime scenes, but send what you can. Or if you have photos from something like a church or community event, send those. Email news@northescambia.com

I was there right after this happened and it was not pretty. I figured that William would beat the pnj to it though. Thanks, William for all the good coverage. It is greatly appreciated by all of us.

    A letter to the Editor:
Once again the NorthEscambia.com has shown that it cares
about the folks north of nine mile road.
NOT ONE WORD was mention in the PNJ Allis the mullet wrapper
about this tragic wreck that happen in Cantonment. Most likely
the PNJ was already in bed after they covered all the news in
Gulf Breeze and other spots that don’t mean a D—- thing to the
    north end folks….

Keep up the GREAT not good work !!!!!!

Prayers are with them. All children should be in proper seatbelts at all times in a vehicle. I dearly hope the little one is alright.
