Arrests Made Wednesday In Another Animal Cruelty Case

May 7, 2009

Two people turned themselves into authorities Wednesday on animal cruelty charges stemming from the mistreatment of horses.

Katherine Elaine Bell, 41, and  Anthony Clayton Bell, 42, both of Rolling Hills Road,  were charged with confinement of animals without sufficient food, water or exercise. They were released on $1,000 bond each, according to court records.

Two horses were seized from the Bell’s Cantonment property on March 21 by Panhandle Equine Rescue, according to PER President Diane Lowery. The horses are in rehabilitation and are doing well, according to Lowery.

i dont know why people buy pets if their going to treat them bad if they dnt want the pets then they should give them to a shelter or to another person because animal cruelty is not the right thing to do!!!!!!

When I was a child, I would have given up my right arm to have a horse, but my Dad said it was too expensive. As much as I would still love to ride, and maybe could afford one now, I do not get one because I know I would not be able to care for it to the extent I would want it cared for. I just keep the hope that someday, before I’m over 99, someone will ask, “Would you like to exercise my horse for me today?” When I see a horse in the shape this one is in, it makes me want to cry. How can anyone do such a thing to any living creature?

That is absolutely terrible. I don’t understand why people own animals if they aren’t going to care for them properly. If I was in a position to be unable to care for my animal, I would quickly find someone that would be able to take care for her. Thank goodness someone came to the rescue and the horses will recover.

Rolling Hills Road is not in Cantonment and I couldn’t find any property owned by either of these two names anywhere in the county. Where was this?

I agree an eye for an eye lets leave them without food, water, no room to move around, in the weather all day, abuse them, etc.

I have a bunch of horses and I don’t see why people would want to even think about hurtin a beautiful thing like that. If they couldn’t take care of it why even buy the thing. I could find someone to take care of it w/ just one phone call. I hate people that does this kind of stuff to horses,or any animal for that matter. It is sick.

If they know they can’t care for them, why don’t they give them to kids that would want them?

What is it with these people not taking proper care of the animals they have?????

It makes me sick to my stomach to see such abuse. Once again, God Bless PER for coming to the rescue. We all need to make some donations to this organization!!
