A collision between a train and a log truck sent logs crashing into a Brewton bank Monday morning.

The accident happened in downtown Brewton about 11:15 Monday morning when a loaded log truck attempting to cross over the railroad tracks was hit by a freight train.

The crash sent the truck’s trailer spinning around and over toward the First Exchange Bank.  The load of logs was spilled, sending a log crashing into the lobby just in front of the bank’s teller windows.

There were no injuries reported in the crash.

I’ve observed with reasonable consistency that log truck drivers are not among the safest.

Fantastic coverage William!!!!! Unfortunately this is not a rare thing for Brewton and their r/r crossings. I have no idea what makes these truck drivers think they can beat a train. . . . it’s a blessing that no one was hurt. But I bet there were some “shaky” bank employees yesterday afternoon!!

Please keep us informed,as I know you will,as to the “why” of a log truck trying to outrun a train!!!!!
