Party Like It’s 1773: Tea Parties Protest Obama’s Policies

Hundreds of people, including several North Escambia residents, turned out for a modern day tea party in Pensacola Wednesday to protest President Barack Obama’s economic policies, bailouts and stimulus packages.
Waving homemade signs critical of the Obama administration, peaceful protesters lined Davis Highway at University Mall, just one of hundreds of such demonstrations across the country.
“Stop the Bailout”, “TEA = Taxed Enough Already”, “Stop Spending My Grandchildren’s Money” and “No More Bailouts” were but just a few of the signs that protesters waived at passing motorists.
Nationwide, the tea parties were expected to be the largest tax day protest in American history.

The tea parties were intended as grassroots protests against government spending. On December 16, 1773, a group of American colonists, in protest to the British government’s Tea Act (a tax on tea), hijacked a British ship and dumped the cargo into Boston Harbor. This act of defiance sent a bold statement to the British government that colonists in America would no longer accept the burdens of excessive taxation from a distant land, without representation.

How do you like OBAMA now??? His policies are SOCIALISTIC and he surrounds himself with COMMUNISTS. This is not the American way – get with it young people and right this wrong – VOTE for someone in the next election that truly LOVES American FREEDOM, the IDEALS and VALUES this country was founded on. IF OBAMA is allowed to continue – he and his left winged liberals will take away all our rights.

Facts:
Obama is expected to spend over 3.9 TRILLON dollars this year.
The Federal Goveernment is expected to borrow 1.75 TRILLON dollars this year.
Obama’s budget for 2010 contains a net tax hike 0f 1.35 TRILLON dollars.
More than 42% of the so-called tax cuts in Obama’s budget are really checks mailed to people who pay NO taxes.
“Under my plan of a cap-and-trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket…they would have to retrofit their operations. That will cost money. They will pass that on to the consumer.” President Obama
Three R’s. calling it like i see it as well dear and I think I think I did a very good job of it and As i mentioned, Bush spent WAY more of YOUR Tax Dollars than the current and new President, yet no tea parties then…..Do you see the parallels now, if not, im sorry, i think i broke it down for you already, any that choose not to see, it’s all on you..Ignorance is Bliss, you have the figures, there are more, I just choose not to spend all of my time providing them, it would take me all month long..Now I will retire from this post, ..God Bless!!

In response to LuLu…I am a Black Woman, I did not attend and will not attend. I can use that time on my knees telling God about whatever situations arise in this national economic situation. However, here is what I do not understand. It strikes me odd that since we do have a black President, now everyone wants to rant and rave stating that we ware already taxed enough yet during the Bush administration, no one ranted or raved when it was announced that he spent MILLIONS MONTHLY, on the war in Iraq at the taxpayers expense, no one ranted or raved in November when Bush was all in favor of the Bailout of corporations such as AIG in November ,(who ultimately spent their bailout money on million dollar bonuses) during his presidency. If my memory serves me correct, Pentagon spending during his administration rose to over $515 billion, He sent a 3 Trillion dollar budget for Congress’s approval to boost military spending all at the expense of the taxpayer. His spending of taxpayers dollars, increasing the federal budget deficit is partly the reason we are in the predicament we are in today. Where were the tea parties then. By the way, he has the power to veto a bill, yet he did not do so during the November Bailout. So how is this any different. Be real with yourself when I ask you why wait until the black man gets into office to get all gun hoe about it…..so yes, lulu it does seem like a race thing to me, either that or pure coincidence.
I was at the event and like E.M.D., I was disappointed that I didn’t see any black people there. This was not a black/white or democrate/republican event, nor was it an anti Obama event. It was an American event. If you pay taxes it was your event. I hope these protest will grow and that all taxpayers will attend one.
Jeff Miller came to the event that I attended and then went on to the one down town, however I didn’t realize where he had been before coming. Thanks, psu1earl for the heads up. If we had known his welcome might not have been so warm.
Rep Jeff Miller talked at one event right after he visited UWF to celebrate that $430,000 earmark he just got for them and pledged to try for another $5.5mil in earmarks next year…isn’t that just the icing on the cake…

In the past, you and I have disagreed, and are likely to disagree on something in the future; however, on this I agree.
I would share with you that there is a bit of a pattern here. When Bill Clinton became president, in the transition we were blessed with NAFTA – and George Bush, Sr. started the ball rolling.
Being involved in international trade at the time, I remember that shortly after NAFTA passed, the Mexican government DEVALUED its currency, an action that caused virtually ALL of the supposed benefits of NAFTA to dissolve.
I am now wondering what Congress will do with ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION after President Obama’s visit to Mexico.
Also, the FIRST BAILOUT was a joint effort between the Republican administration of G.W. Bush and the new Democratic Congress. This is not just an Obama thing; I think it is a Washington DC political plan. Somehow we have developed a class of professional political elites who run our House and Senate and seemingly guide the elected officials in Washington with only a few exceptions.
It is a government that is Of, FOR, and BY the people that we need. We can disagree on issues, but we must agree on principles, and God’s principles are a good place to start.

I am disappointed that I did not see any brown or black faces there, standing up for something very important…freedom and …. that which is right. You may not join in now, but the day may soon come, when you will wish you had. There is a new kind of slavery that is developing. You may wish you were back in your old Kentucky Hacienda. What’s ahead, if something doesn’t soon turn, will make us all forget the N word and the F word and all our petty, childish differences. We will wake up and realize what we “had.” I think I hear a trumpet sounding a “wake up” call. If we do not wake up, the next sound we hear will be Taps. It will need to sound only once, because America, The Land of the Free, and Home of the Brave, the America we once were, will be laid to rest. It will be perpetual night.
