Talked with a scout that watched the game that Northview and Walton played last night. I was surprised to find out Northview only won by 1 run. He and I agreed that Northview should have easily won this game by at least 8-10 runs. He was a little lost as to why they did some of things they did, things seem to be done in desperation or uneccessary, straying away from solid baseball. The hitting by Northview was very weak, unlike some other reports and actual scouting he and I had done on this team. We are mostly watching for some certain players of course, but just an observation of things that strayed from what got Northview wins before. It definitly was not the pitching from Walton that kept Northview from hitting, it was themselves, and the most surprising is the fact of not using your pinch hitters better, or since the starting 9 seem to have went cold, work in some others, and see if they can get things going. The scout told me that he seen a player sitting on the bench, that he knows for a fact can hit the ball, due to seeing him at some of the camps knock the cover off of it in every camp he coached him in. He was scatching his head about that one, because he was hoping to see him hit and play some defense, he knows he can do it, he just wanted to see him in some regular team action. But not all was lost, he did get to see some other players he came to see. Noted some fairly good pitching from Northview, who had pitched pretty good in the past. He was hoping to see some more pitchers too, but that didn’t happen. Maybe next time.
Been watching both teams play, Northview should be able to win this game when they get to play it. Seen some pretty good pitching from Northview, don’t know the names, just their jersey numbers, 14, 4, 3, and 6. I believe I have seen one of these pitching at a camp before, not sure though, but good luck with the game.
Home game against Walton High School,( Defuniak Springs). Well I guess we will just have to wait a little longer to play against the infamous choke and poke team. Chiefs continue to prepare so we can prevail.
