Work is underway to install a turn lane on Highway 97 at Highway 4 in the Davisville community.

The contractor, Panhandle Grading and Paving,  is currently doing the ditch and pipe work portion of the project, according to Tommie Speights, spokesperson for the Florida Department of Transportation. Once that phase of the job is completed, they will widen both sides of Highway 97 to install the turn lane from southbound Highway 97 onto Highway 4. There will not be a northbound turn lane.

Once a side is completed, traffic will shift to the new construction, and the other side will be constructed, according to Speights. He said traffic delays will be minimal during the project.

The entire project is expected to be complete by the first week of April.

J>R How about the stop sign at Arthur Brown and Pine Forest Rd.? Only about 2% of the people ever stop either way .Pine Forest is a new Speed Way since it has been paved. There Is no since in puttting a paved road in the county without stripes in the middle.
When you are coming from Enon to the Stop sign, You can get up to 45 miles in just a few secods of the first house on the right. Lot of people just do not obey the law no matter what.
How about those people who have children in the first house.Someone is going to be killed if the county dosen’t do something. Bring Speed Limet Signto 20mps

“The entire project is expected to be complete by the first week of April.”

You know they can work 40 hour week and finish by the end of this month.

Turn lane is very good news for those who travel 4 to 97.

On that 4-way on 99 and 164, well, it was a good intention, but the traffic counts don’t justify it and most didn’t obey it, even the ones who pushed the hardest for it.

A traffic light at that intersection is insane. Makes just as much sense as the 4 way stop at 164 & 99. Try stopping that traffic on 97 and you will need to station an ambulance service on site.

concerned citizen — there is no plan for a traffic light, just the turn lane.

I takes just a little more to go First class. Go ahead and put a turn off the northbound lane on to Hwy 4 I say. But we take what can get in the North end of the county. Thumbs up anyway.

I think this is wonderful. I am always scared someone is going to rear-end me while waiting to turn. I know that money is tight right now, but I do think this is money well-spent!
