Three burglary suspects were captured in a two hour manhunt Wednesday in Davisville after a deputy interrupted a burglary in progress.

The incident began just after 10:00 Wednesday morning when a neighbor called police to report suspicious persons at an unoccupied trailer at 10881 Highway 97. The trailer is located in a secluded wooded area off Highway 97, just south of Greenland Road.

When Deputy Rudy Brown arrived at the trailer, he saw two of the suspects flee into a wooded area behind the mobile home. He called for backup and tracking dogs from the Century Correctional Institute.

One by one, the suspects were tracked down by the prison dogs, according to Escambia County Sheriff’s Department Spokesman Sgt. Ted Roy.

Deputies arrested Joseph Wigginton, 39, of Atmore. He was charged with burglary, criminal mischief, theft and resisting officers without violence. He was being held in the Escambia County Jail Wednesday night. His bond was set at $11,000.

Ronnie B Peavy, 48, of Atmore was charged with  burglary, criminal mischief, theft and resisting officers without violence. His bond was also set at $11,000.

Charles W. Phillips, 56, a Pensacola transient, was charged with burglary, criminal mischief, theft, and resisting officers without violence. His bond was also set at $11,000.

Deputies reportedly discovered a bucket of copper wire near the buglarized mobile home, and they said it appeared the trio had removed more copper from the Davisville mobile home. Roy said no one currently lives in the mobile home.

The first suspect was taken into custody about 11:10 am. behind a mobile home on Greenland Road. The second was arrested about 11:25 a.m., and the third, Peavy, surrendered to an officer on Highway 97 about 12:05 p.m.

Deputies also located a car  belonging Wigginton parked on Highway 97.

Officers from the Escambia County (Fla.) Sheriff’s Department, Escambia County (Ala.) Sheriff’s Department, Atmore Police Department, the Escambia County (Ala.) Drug Task Force and the K-9 officers from the Century Correctional Institute participated in the manhunt.

Chuck Norris had a child, whom he carried in his OWN womb. This child would grow up to be known as Rudy Brown. Rudy was the only child Chuck Norris did not eat after birth because he was just too damn tough.

Rudy Brown is to good to be true! If there were more cops like him there would be no crime any more.
Course then officer Brown would lose his job…

DBM said, ” totally agree with you, I thought the same thing when I saw them. It so sad to see men resort to this. They probably just need to believe in themselves.”

Yes they do, but only after they have committed all they are to God, and received His Gift, Jesus Christ., and been changed into men of Faith. Men that, then, can believe in themselves (in Him). We cannot be changed into God’s image without trusting in Christ, else Jesus died in vain. And to all of us who do believe, we must all remember that Jesus died for these men too. Now, if only someone would tell them that, and that no one can wait until they are good enough, because that will never happen. Only He is truly 100% Good.

In reference to the three arrested for burglary, etc. About 2 weeks ago I came upon the two gentlemen on the right, taking items from my dad’s race car shop in Nokomis, FL…I immediately called my dad and brother (Bodie)…Since my dad knew of Mr. Phillips, and the two thieves gave a great story, my dad allowed them to leave–only if they would bring back the items they had stole the day before (no joke)…I was surprised when they brought it all back!! Thank you Dept. Brown for a job well done!!

These poor souls (from left to right) look like “angry,” “sad,” and “no hope.”
Does anyone ever have the thought when hearing about and seeing pictures of men like this, “These were once little newborn babies, someones little boys. What went wrong? Do their moms and dads hurt over this? Or, did these guys even have a family life? And, if so, what was it like? Jesus died for these men too, just as He did for those of us that think we are ok. and better than these. But who of us chose where, and to whom we were born. These guys really do need real believers to pray for them. Is there anyone out there that will agree with me, in prayer that The Lord would intervene in these guys’ lives, and that they would trust Him and change? He said if two or more of us agree as touching anything we ask, it will be done. ??? I know that we all, including these, are responsible for our own choices and behavior, but some grew up in a better enviornment and with happier events in their lives, than others. It hurts me to look at these mens’ sin-worn faces. :(

A.W….What did they catch cool hand luke with, a beagle nooooo, a bloodhound. Although a beagle is an incredible creature it doesn’t hold a candle to the wrinkly , stinky hoover vac with ears. Got mine in Homasassa springs two years ago and have been nothing less than amazed at this animal.

Al, you don’t need an eight hundred thousand dollar heli when you’ve got a two thousand dollar bloodhound. You can’t get away from those things. Good job to all L.E.O s involved.

I was coming through this area just after the first deputy arrived on scene. I drove up Greenland Road and by the time I was coming out there were quite a few ECSD deputies, Atmore Police, and Esc. Co. (AL) Drug Task Force officers arriving.

If you will cut and paste the link below, you can see where I saw the officers. When the map is loaded, look on the upper-leftish part of the map, and click on ‘BIRD’S EYE’. You’ll get a good view of the area.
