Ernest Ward Cheerleaders Need Your Help To Get To National Finals
January 26, 2009
The Ernest Ward Middle School cheerleaders are headed to Orlando next month to compete for a national title, and they could use a little help from you.
The EWMS cheerleaders took first place in the Universal Cheerleaders Association West Florida Regional in November at Tate High School. That qualifies the girls to head to Orlando for the national championships February 5-9.
Ashley Salter, EWMS cheerleading sponsor, says that the girls still need about $1,500 to make the trip. The girls have completed several fund raisers, including a pecan pie sale and a volleyball tournament, raising about $5,000 so far.
If you would like to help the Ernest Ward Middle School cheerleaders make their trip to the national finals, you can drop your donations off at the Ernest Ward office.

Ravennn =)
i think everyone and all the cheerleaders know that we have worked really hard, we are all very excited about goin…especially me!
GO EAGLES!!
Congrats, girls! We hope you have a wonderful time at nationals & make a lot of fun memories!
Willard, negativity in the community is what has killed the schools–congratulations on your part in that–it’s that very mentality that is the culprit. Communities make schools. Schools do NOT make communities! Please, just let these girls enjoy this moment without that negative trash. It’s amazing just how selfish some people can be–not to mention the root of the problem here seems to be jelousy!
But that’s just an outsiders view–not a cheer mom, coach or teacher–just an average person who has nothing to do with any of the people involved.
Girls, enjoy your day in the spotlight & don’t let anyone ruin it for you. You are making memories & connections you will never forget.
Williard, Why would you even bring that mess up????? That is pitiful!!!!!
These girls have NOTHING to do with what is going on in Century. We are so proud of them and we do not care where they live! They have worked extremly hard to get where they are right now and for you to try to take the focus off of them and put it on Century”s mess , Well, you should be ashamed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GIRLS, don’t let anyone who wants to drag you down do it……..You have all worked so hard and everyone at EWMS is so proud….GO EAGLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Willard if this is about the closure, blame century community. They are the reason the school is closing (low enrollment) due to low scores. Don’t blame EWMS cheerleaders or our community. Its Century who chose to move their kids for a better education. Its no ones fault but your own. Everyone should of gotten one the bandwagon years ago to improve the school instead of now. Now its time to come together as one, and get along. Everyone lets cheer these girls on because they deserve it. Next year they will be EWMS representing Walnut Hill, Bratt, Century, and Byrneville GO EAGLES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What does it matter what school zone these girls live in? Right now they attend EWMS and are EWMS Cheerleaders. They have EARNED the right to compete at Nationals. They are TERRIFIC girls and need the community support to help them get to the National Competition. Let’s think of the children!! I am VERY proud of all of these girls. They have worked very hard.
Willard, the girls have changed a lot since Byrneville, but I see at least two girls from the Century area. Ernest Ward affords opportunities to all it’s students, no matter where they live.
Willard–”Just out of, well wanting to know. How many of the “Cheerleaders” are from the Century school? 14 girls and how many are from the Century school?”
Zero. Why would Ernest Ward have cheerleaders from the Century school? If they are at Carver, they are on Carver’s squad. If they are at EWMS, they are EWMS cheerleaders.
Carver does not have Ernest Ward students cheering on their squad, and Ernest Ward does not have Carver students cheering. That would be like an Auburn Tiger cheerleader on the sidelines for Bama.
Just out of, well wanting to know. How many of the “Cheerleaders” are from the Century school? 14 girls and how many are from the Century school?
Everyone is amazing on the squad, I am so happy i get to go to nationals with this group of girls.
I am soooo excited!!!!!!!!
