Golf Cart Fire In Walnut Hill

Fire units were dispatched to a golf cart fire in Walnut Hill about 7:00 Monday night.

The fire, in the 7100 block of Highway 97, was very near a residence.

The home was not damaged. There were no injuries reported.

The homeowner says he was inside when he heard was described a loud explosion that shook the house. When he looked outside, he discovered the fire.

Firefighters eventually resorted to using a foam fire extinguisher to extinguish the burning batteries from the cart.

The Walnut Hill, McDavid and Molino stations of Escambia Fire-Rescue were dispatched to the scene, along with Atmore Ambulance. McDavid and Molino were canceled prior to arriving.
