Highway 97 Wreck Injures Two Near Walnut Hill

Two people were injured in a single vehicle rollover accident on Highway 97 near Walnut Hill Wednesday afternoon.

The accident happened about 1:45 Wednesday afternoon on Highway 97 just north of Howell Road. The driver pickup truck with a load of tires on a utility trailer lost control. The vehicle overturned and landed upright in a field.

Two people were transported to Baptist Hospital by ambulance.

The accident is still under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.

The FHP, Walnut Hill Station of Escambia Fire-Rescue, Engine 1819 from Molino and Atmore Ambulance responded to the call.

    I’m sure speed was a major contributing factor in this accident as well as the many others we’ve recently been reading about. Another concern is what was the total weight the trailer was hauling? Folks need to realize that overloading vehicles and trailers can make them unstable, which can lead to crashes.
