The Northview Chiefs suffered a district loss on the road Friday night to Baker, 34-21.

At the half, Baker was up 21-7. Northview was behind by six in the fourth when the fans rallied to their feet, many of them hitting the sideline fence to cheer on their Chiefs, but the Gators added another half dozen by the end of the quarter.

Senior Jay Jackson  had 21 carries on the night for the Chiefs for 210 yards. Jackson picked up three touchdowns and had 11 tackles.

Shakel Holmes,  a junior, had seven carries for 34 yards, and Montaio Mitchell picked up a big interception.

Junior Austin Reid was a lean, mean tackling machine Friday night, with 14 total tackles. Seven of those were big solo tackles.

Not far behind Reid was junior Ka’Daris Grice, with 10 tackles for the Chiefs.

The Chiefs are now 1-1 in district play, 2-3 overall.

Northview will be on the road again next Friday night in Blountstown. Next week’s game is not a district contest.

The Chiefs in charge just could not get our Indians the right plays again, It is evident if Auburn can’t run the spread, Northview can’t either. Our Indians need an offense that works with their abilities, not an offense the Chief in charge wants to experiment with. Head Chief the natives are very restless, and need you to show your proven leadership to correct the Chief problems you have, lets don’t ingnore the natives to long, because their patience is wearing thin.

Great Job Chiefs, you played hard, and faught till the end. The game was very exciting in the fourth quarter, now thats what we need to happen from start to finish. That`s the first time this year I have seen everyone that was in the stands on the fence that excited and cheering the Chiefs on. We lost but I believe we are comng together and things will get better from here on out. Keep up the support for our Chiefs. I do have to say that was one heck of a hit Austin Reid put on their running back. We are all behind you Chiefs. Play from the heart, fight hard and things will work out. Last I challenge everyone in the stands to the side line even the coaches to the Band to form our spirit line from the goal post to the sidelines and show all the support we can.

The NHS Chiefs played a heck of a game last night. Glad to hear support from fans in the stands. And the band did an outstanding job keeping the spirit high–especially during the second half.
