Carver/Century Writing+ FCAT Scores The County’s Worst

Fourth and eighth graders at Carver/Century K-8 school had the worst elementary and middle school scores in the county on the Writing+ FCAT.

Only 20 percent of them scored at grade level or above on the Writing+ Essay test in grade four. Only 44 percent of eighth graders scored at or above grade level.

A score of 3.5 on the combination multiple choice and essay test is considered to be grade level.

Last year, 50 percent of the Carver/Century fourth grade students scored a 3.5 or more.

Last year, 56 percent of the Carver/Century eighth grade students scored a 3.5 or more.

Of the 15 fourth grade students taking the Writing+ test at Carver/Century, none of them scored a 3 or higher. Thirty-three percent of the students scored 2-3, and 67 percent scored a 1.

Of the 16 eighth students taking the Writing+ test at Carver/Century, none scored a 5 or higher. Six percent scored between 4 and 5, and 48 percent scored between 3 and 4. Thirteen percent of the students scored 2-3, and 69 percent scored a 1.
