Bratt Elementary Boost FCAT Writing Gains, One Of The County’s Best

Bratt Elementary school fourth graders scored among the best in the county in the recent FCAT Writing+ Essay test,with 85 percent of them scoring at grade level or above.

A score of 3.5 on the combination multiple choice and essay test is considered to be grade level.

Last year, 75 percent of the Bratt fourth grade students scored a 3.5 or more.

Of the 66 students taking the Writing+ test at Bratt, five percent scored a 5 or higher. Twelve percent scored between 4 and 5, and 48 percent scored between 3 and 4.

Twenty-six percent of the students scored 2-3, and nine percent scored a 1.

Bratt Elementary Principal Sheryl Pomeroy told NorthEscambia.com that the students and teachers were both to be commended for their hard work to prepare for the FCAT.
