Scott Signs Bill To Crack Down On Animal Abuse
April 6, 2008
Thursday, Gov. Rick Scott signed “Ponce’s Law’ which creates harsher penalties for animal abusers. “Ponce’s Law” is named for a 9-month-old Labrador retriever puppy found beaten to death in Ponce Inlet last year. This legislation allows a judge to bar someone convicted of animal cruelty from owning a pet, and makes it more likely that an offender would to go prison. This is all well and good but, what I see is we are more concerned about animals than we are about babies!
Be an adoptive parent of a Child!
As a foster mom, with 12 abused dogs, I am so glad to see this. There are way to many abused/neglected animals out there and not enough consequences for doing it. We have 8 dogs of our own and four fosters because most of the dogs weren’t or aren’t adoptable. These animals are seniors and nobody wants old dogs. I’ve had rescues that lashed out at you in fear because they didn’t understand human contact. I’ve had @ 15lb pitbull that should’ve weighed 70. He couldn’t walk when we got him and needed to be picked up to go outside to potty. These are some of the atrocities I’ve seen in my rescue life. Heart wrenching to say the least
Thank you for giving our animals a voice!
